The day after I came back from the jungle trek, I went to Tangkahan, where is an elephant center. I went with one of the locals by scooter. The ride took us 2 hours to go and 2 to come back. ... snakes... all sorts really but I am definitely glad we didn't have a brief encounter with a tiger...I don't think my heart could take that one!

Bukit Lawang is set on a fab river which I enjoyed with the girls and locals alike and had fun splashing around. The weather here is hot, mid thirties pretty much all the time and they haven't had rain for the past couple of months so the river is fairly low but worse than that, the wells are running dry.

... were too many times where the path redefined the term "straight and narrow." Looking down was not always a good idea. Besides the fact that I actually survived, here's the cool stuff.

... and we boarded the ferry for Bali. It was a simple crossing and we were back on the road in just over an hour. ... the pool, we were joined by Bas who is from Holland and doing his dive masters. He joined us for lunch and helped us get ready for our afternoon dive...we were expected to set our own kit up and complete our own pre dive safety checks; a nerve racking thought.
