... how far we still had to go. Our guide, Wayan, complemented us by saying that we were going up much faster than usual, and we’d have some time to kill at the summit. We rested for 30 minutes just below the summit, and popped up to the top just as the sky was beginning to lighten. The views from the top were marvelous! There was a bit of low cloud over Lombok to the east, but the surrounding view was pretty clear. We spent almost 2 hours up there ...

... arrives in a few days and see what the plans are from there. I head round the island with Joe, Anita and Neil and have a fun few days with them before they return to Langkawi meanwhile Tony and Santong are going to stay on in Phuket for a while so are settling into the marina. Roel is also here from Langkawi, as it Jim who was our neighbour at the marina before so I know a few people around.

I think Phuket is going to be fun...

Another early start to catch our bus to medan. Nathan had some porridge again before we walked into the market place to catch the bus to medan. We were sharing the minivan with an Australian couple and set off around 9:45. Around 30 minutes into our journey along the bumpy road the tyre blew up so we were basically stranded! ... transport; cheaper and you meet nice people. The bus to Medan was one of those economy sardine cans. We left with 5 persons, and on the way we picked up more and more people. At one point I thought the bus to be full and expected the driver not to stop anymore for more passengers. But every time he did! There seemed to be no limit. In the end we were 25 in the mini van, including three babies (I'm sure I counted around 16 official seats...). In Medan we changed bus ...
