... the afternoon. We found a little bakery that became our favorite for cappuchinnos and little ham sandwiches or croissants in the morning. We found restaurants that we could return to but there ar so many, no need to go twice. And we cooked at the apartment twice (or was it three times?) and it was yummy. Today we went to bologna's mortadello festival, sampled a few and ate some snacks made out of ...

The weather was perfect and our hotel, right near the train station, was comfortable. Lucca is a walled city and we spent our days there walking the wall, the tiny streets and the beautiful squares. We climbed two towers and got beautiful views of the city. One night we heard a bit of a concert by a local men's singing group. Another night ...

... of one of the rounds. It was too funny! Finally it was time to warm up for the big race. Our coach was a bit worried that we had sat around for too long but I think everyone was pretty jazzed about the prospect of winning another medal. If we thought our first heat was going to be tough, this last one was going to be tougher. The two teams that had beaten us the first day, the German team, another Canadian team, a strong US team, ...
