... he joined us at the table as we dined and we had the craic. What was most unexpected, and thoroughly decent of him, was that he paid for our lunch which was a kind gesture and typical of the Turkish.

We are now in the Belde Hotel just outside Ordu. As I write this with the balcony door open I can hear the sea gently kissing the shore. It would be very easy to get used to. All too much so.

Day 158 Day total: 16 hrs, 7.0 kms Next day I continue on west, slowly and reluctantly working my way back towards Istanbul. There's so much more exploring I'd like to do around here. Unlike in previous years, when I felt weary and quite ready to give up traveling for a while, at the end of this "big trip" I feel I've still got a lot more wandering in me. It's threatening to rain when I reach Giresun, and I just make it a few hundred meters up the crooked streets and it starts ...

Next I hop on one of the many mini buses heading to the next city up the road: Ordu. It's interesting to note, that even though this is just a "town hopper" mini-bus, the attendant is still very well dressed, and offers you free water on the ride. Just love the service and professionalism of buses here in Turkey. Sometimes they won't let me take my guitar on board, but I know it will be ...

... to be raining torrentially and I don't think the honks or lights flashing I received were friendly!! Became quite unnerved and decided to check into a hotel. Enough is enough!!

Also in Turkey, it's not uncommon for cars to be driving on the shoulder against traffic to get to a road they've missed or just so they don't have to go all way around the legal way!! Surprising and scary! Especially if I'm off in my own little world.

    This is just like golf...
