... for our gourmet meals, tasted a couple of their 400 beers they produce, enjoyed their cafes and took a canal tour to learn a bit more about the city. It was occupied during the war but not bombed, so it had loads of old world charm.
One of their churches houses one of the 3 remaining statues of 'Madonna and Child", so we enjoyed the cafe on the street, while Helen popped in for a gander.

I spent one night in Kortrijk at my Grandmothers apartment she lived before being moved to the retirement home.

... some fine works by the Flemish artist Hans Memling. The paintings we saw were multi-paneled and to me they served as ancient storyboards, weaving elaborate tales with their images. The Groeninge Museum houses mainly Flemish art, ranging from the 15th to the 20th century.
