... how beautiful it was. Then Totty pointed to a couple of things in the picture that looked like umbrellas and said "and what the F is that?" he asked the tramp agian how much he wanted for it. The tramp replied again with the amount of 50 pesos. Totty thought for a moment and said to him, "but I only have 2 pesos" the tramp then thought for a moment and replied "bien!" no haggling, staright down from a tenner to 30 pence! What a bargain!

... order your tix in one line and pay in another) and right before we were at the front a different dude comes through the exit and walks right up to the counter! Finally, we were at the bus station and were already talking to the agent about getting our tix. He was looking something up on the computer and another guy comes up on the side and starts talking to him. The agent goes and helps him before he comes back to us! Can someone please tell me how to say "no cuts" in Spanish?

Back in the hood!

... tender!

Today, had a bit of a wander around another district, before heading back to our embassies to get our passports. All fine, no dramas, and we feel much happier to have them!

We met a MENTAL cab driver named Alberto, who couldn´t speak a word of english, but we had the funniest taxi journey with him, he was lots of fun. We were throwing out band names to him, when I asked him if he liked Ricky Martin, he opened the cab ...

A Magnificent Legacy

... He offered to sell the house and all its art and furnishings to the Argentine government for a museum. Fortunately, the government took advantage of this offer, and today this magnificent building is available to all as the National Museum of Decorative Arts. Unfortunately, the museum does not allow photos of the interior. Here is an historic photo at the link below that gives you a since of the grandeur of the building when it was new, as well as my photo of the exterior.

Day 96 - Buenos Aires

... but were really friendly and made appoint of coming to find me to say goodbye before they left, bless. Went round to the hostel round the corner for a few drinks with Fabian but he ended up sitting in the smoking area chatting to some guys in Spanish so I went and sat near the bar, which is always a good place to meet people. True to form I got chatting to a Scottish called Sophie who was on her own. She's ...

Bumming around as the weather changed.

... for Uruguay tomorrow. We are only taking our small day bags for the 3 night trip and are leaving our big backpacks at this hostel until we return - it's nice to travel light for a change! After skyping my Grandma to wish her happy birthday for tomorrow, we headed out to a small restaurant just up the road from us. We had a bit of a steak & chicken combo thing going off between us. Then the night was completed with a few beers in front of the TV.

More from the Metropolis...BA

... we had to get down there. -it certainly lived up to expectations...the steaks were grotesquely big!!! and unbelievably tasty/juicy/delicious etc. We left with extremely rounded paunches, and waddled back to the hostel for some rest! 2)Going to La Boca, and seeing the amazingly colourful houses that run all along the street. They look so cool! Oh yeah, and seeing tango dancers in ...

Country #5 here I come!

... not a result of homesickness when i was chating to a friend from uni from California yesterday arvo on our compulsory excursion to a (very boring) museum. She lowered her voice to me so the others wouldnt hear (and get offended) and asked ´is it just me, or did you expect BA to be more Spanish´and i replied that i didnt know about ´more Spanish´but i expected it to be more WOW, especially as the LP books all call it the Paris of the South! (Then again, LP also told ...

CHAPTER 1: INTRO AND ARGENTINE CUSTOMS ESCAPE

... and pointing out a local transvestite who walks past while we are chatting. Living between Sydney and Brighton - 2 principal hubs for gays, lesbians, gender benders, cross dressers and assorted beardy weirdies - this is perhaps the most unremarkable sight I have ever seen, but in the interest of diplomacy and an expedient departure from the law I feign a level of interest and mock horror at the chunky legs popping out of the ill fitting mini skirt. Back at Giulio's for beers ...

Yes, there are a lot of tourists - you have to use your imagination! - Futbol semifinals - We didn't actually go to the game (it was a long, all day event on a super hot day), but Pearl and I went to a soccer bar ...
