... thankful. But... the hotel is not working - the water pipes got frozen and the toilets are not operational - I say I don't care, drop my bags and come to visit Mohan, as he hospitably proposed.
His home is a small room with a temple (located on top of a TV set), some shelfs, two mattressed, a stove, and a kichen sink - which looks to me more like a basis of shower. First thing is to take off the shoes. Raj - Mohan's freind lives there as well. Raj is very welcome ...

McLeod Ganj, Himachal Pradesh, India bridyfitz... slogans were everywhere. Signs saying "Individuals can make a difference", "others before self", "peace and love", and "we come to learn and go to serve". Unfortunately, I did not have a radio for the FM translation, so I just soaked in the scenery and experience for a while. Toward the end of the broadcast, I took out my Ipod thinking maybe it had radio capability. The Ipod did not, but Kunchok pointed to a white (western ...
McLeod Ganj, Himachal Pradesh, India ephish... is some mango juice that may have had some unfiltered water or ice in it). She was bedridden for two or three days, and so we actually did end up staying in McLeod a bit longer than we planned so that she could properly recover and still see all the things we wanted to see. When she finally started to feel better we celebrated by going to a Tibetan rock concert. We're not sure how much this scene has developed here but in terms of sheer skill, we have to say that bands we've ...
McLeod Ganj, Himachal Pradesh, India mattarah... was very good, but he took these lessons as a double opporutnity - to learn about Buddist philosophy, and to perfect his language. At the end of the lecture, we fell into talking as I attempted to define some of the words he had jotted down - "impartial" and "fertile." "What Tibetan do you know?" "Me? None." "You've been here how long?" He asked, incredulously. "A week - a bit more actually." "And you don't know a word of Tibetan ...
McLeod Ganj, Himachal Pradesh, India hammitt... the concerts of our Guruji and then heading back into the mountains, to the retreat of Rishikesh, a popular destination for people from all over to spend time in the majestic mountains and study yoga, spirituality, and all sorts of worldly subjects. We hope everyone who is reading this is loving life and having fun and we can't wait to see you soon and tell you more about all of our experiences here in the East, incredible India. namaste, Andrew, Justin, Natalie, Jonathan & Shayna
McLeod Ganj, Himachal Pradesh, India monsoon-music... 5-8. They're decent rooms, but definitely NOT $25 worth. I raise an immediate fuss - there is no other option here! But immediately get sent to the "assistant engineer" who, in the manner of lower-totem pole bureaucrats everywhere, first motions me to have a seat while he finishes whatever important piece of paper he's filling out, and then explains that this is government tariff, and that's just too bad for us before waving me out of his office. We end up eating the ...
Manali, India imapilot... comfortable - really good to get back to the kind of travel I normally do. I hung my arm out the window in the breeze until I finally twigged what the occasional splashes were - the guy in the cab spitting out the window. Mmm. With the bus being higher than the jeep, the views over the side of the road were pretty hairy. Tabo is further down the Spiti Valley than Pin, so we travelled back the way we'd come yesterday until we passed the turn off to Pin. The travellers got off ...
Kaza, India izzie... we took a day of rest (something--after debating--the porters wanted), we decided to hike quickly and far. Where are the Ibex and Snow Leopards? If there's any place where they'd be, it should be in the Land of the Snow Leopard and Ibex. Instead we found hundreds of goats and sheep. Not seeing either Ibex or Snow Leopard is not proof of their non-existence in Pin Valley. I wasn't expecting to ...
Pin Valley, India lraleighEnglish - From Mcloud Ganj we took a gruelling 12 hour local bus through the mountains to Shimla. This was once the summer capital of the British Government when it got too hot in Delhi. Shimla sits at an altitude of 2500 metres and has a very pleasant climate when it isn't raining. After the horrendous journey here we arrived in a torrential down pour and the minute we stepped of the bus we were surrounded and hassled by touts all pitching to get us into their ...
