... this somewhat grey city. By then, I was getting tired, and wanted to go back to the hostel to just rest up from the cold.

Later on in the night, when I was trying to find a place for dinner, I became very indecisive and worried about eating by myself in a restaurant that had no one in it. I walked past some very good looking restaurants, but they all seemed to be empty. I walked around nearly all of the city center of Bratislava for an hour or so and ended up at ...

After my three days in Vienna, it was time for me to move on to my final stop in Budapest. There were a couple of ways to get to Budapest, so I decided to take a train out to Bratislava and spend the day there before getting into Budapest. Bratislava is the capitol of Slovakia, and though it is their capitol city, it's really very small. The old town is maybe 5 square blocks, with maybe two big churches and a pretty neat gatehouse. I took the afternoon train ...

... times and our guide said that the Parliament creates more problems than solutions (sounds familiar). Bratislava, which was once part of Czechoslovakia, looks old and dirty - it is almost what I expect of a former communist country. It has limited funds but it is trying to rebuild itself. As it is now part of the EU it uses the Euro for currency and there are no border restrictions between Slovakia and other EU countries (e.g. Hungary and ...
