After the meditation course, which I am still doing btw, I started sightseeing of Kathmandu and the surrounding valley. I have to say that Kathmandu itself is not very interesting, lots of people, lots of pollution, but also some nice temples and backstreets near durbar square. That moment was the dramatic thrill of a few days at Karnali - Royal Bardia National Park - but far from the only highlight. Several hours floating the Karnali River brought an abundance of birds - white egrets, osprey, harrier, black ibis, parakeets, and a yellow-bodied ...

So here we are in Kathmandu, clean and comfy and getting fat and happy in all the restaurants here. Our record for not showering is now set at 7 days. Thank goodness for baby wipes. Of course Deb says she smelled like flowers the whole time. Damn ripe flowers they were though! Haha. Sooooo we are planning our next adventures. Until then, we hope all is well...

Off to Beijing tonight for a month in China. Apparently they have decided to have winter early and its snowing, so ive bought myself a North Face knock off puffy jacket that should hopefully keep me 'warm'.

I should say that after a few wonderful weeks in Nepal, my expectations for Kathmandu were extremely high. It is said that the Kathmandu Valley is the jewel of Nepal, and for many it is really the only part of Nepal that they ever get to see.... and I have to say, it greatly surpassed even my wildest expectations.

... electricity went off so the candles and torches came out! At the moment we seem to be losing the electricity for just 2 hours for maybe 3 or 4 days a week. I have not found it to be a major inconvenience except when I want to use my laptop as the battery doesn’t last very long.

Narbin asked if I would mind Barrat driving me back. I had no problem and actually thought it was pretty cool being driven through the streets of Kathmandu with a good looking lad!

So yesterday ...

... had no place to live and I didn't want to have to pay for a hotel just yet. In short, the last few days consisted of moving my stuff, meeting other volunteers from another organization, partying one night with some Aussies I met at a bar in the touristy Thamel, and arriving in Dolkha on a bus, which was really hard for me in my condition. Due to extreme fatigue, and pukiness, I tried not to move and just slept for the most part, only waking up to sip water and take note ...

... we also met some other great people all doing their part God has called them to do, so was some great divine appointments. We are keen to do something in this very poor country, but will wait on God to see what that looks like & for His timing
