... very patient with other people in the car. Anyway we got there. The weather was not ideal for much exploring but did a quick look around and had lunch then onto Vaals. We arrived a bit late to go up the tower as it was running in winter closing hours but we got the idea. ... an event there the previous night so there were crews taking things down, but it was still a very awe inspiring memorial. And with the white snow covering it all around, it just made it so much more special. There is something about white snow that just seems right in a place like this. I was very moved and had to force myself to get to the museum to make sure I had enough time for the rest of my day.

It might be small but you need to include this country/city in your next trip to Europe. It is fair to say that every ruler/leader since mid 900s has tried to fortify this country from invasion and attack, hence the intricate network of rock walls, trenches, towers, turrets and fortifications make exploring this city a unique adventure. Many of these walls are over a 1000 years old. There are contradictions everywhere - an overpass that has to be build around ...
