Being the caring person that I am, naturally I stepped up to the challenge. I did a noble deed. I helped an elderly citizen in need. Overall: I really, REALLY want to go back to Interlaken. I will go out of my way to visit there—or other places like there—in the future. The other places we visited were more one-time deals. We headed back towards Bern, but stopped at Reichenbach, which is where Ilona’s sister lives with her partner and their gorgeous wee baby! We all went for a wander, and just generally admired Elin’s cuteness. This town was so quaint, found a house that was built in the 1500s. ...

... and indeed it rang true. A recent article in The Age had Swiss and Australian cities over-represented in a list of the most expensive cities in the world (Tokyo number one apparently). Dinner that night was fondue in the town of Grindelwald. The fondue consisted of a blend of several cheeses, white wine and kirsch (schnapps). Mix in copious dunkings of bread and potato and you end the meal with a cholesterol reading that would be the envy of any American 10 year old.
