... swift action resulted in them being relocated underneath the van, despite the protestations of Lymºs board, which proceeded to lash out and cause him bodily harm about the head. (A: ha ha ha !!) However, all is forgiven and we all lived to surf another day.
A very pretty (cobbled alleyways, olde worlde stylee, cows in a field with not only udders, but also tuneful bells which, when youºve got a dozen, made quite a din a la Mike Oldfield) little town, unlike the campsite which was essentially a sodden piece of grass, for which we were charged Euro 22, for the pleasure of a night's shut-eye.
... place that commemorates the taking back of Spain from the Moors by the Christians in the late 700s. Apparently, this Pelayo dude (very scary smelly mountain man-looking from the paintings around) decided enough was enough. [Guess the Moors were permitting too much education, freedom, civilization, art, science and the like.) So here we stand in the heart of all that made the way for throwing out of ...
Covadonga, Asturias, Spain and Canary Islands sinfronterasLeft Hector's at 10 am. I was very tired. We hit the road right after getting bread and fruit for breakfast. We ate breakfast and I decided to get some shut-eye after downloading all of the pictures from the day before. Conrad said he would wake me if he saw anything cool. I thought I was just about falling asleep when he woke me up for a "scenic detour". Wow, was all I could ...
Llanes, Asturias, Spain and Canary Islands thematts... the mountains following the river Cares. Although it is only possible to see the river occasional due to it being too far below the path it is possible to hear it. The walk is about 24 kilometers there and back. Approx 16 miles. We have never been on such a spectacular walk. The path clings to the cliff face hundreds of meters above the gorge and burrows through solid rock. It is very difficult to describe adequately.
Tomorrow 2 10 09 we move on.
... We rolled into San Sebastian around 10 to find the office closed!! Fortunately, they had only stepped away for a break and after setting up we sat by the camper and enjoyed some rose and regular port.
... I was ill, because all I did was stare blankly at her and drool.
Didn't have much of a chance to chat with Ana after, but turns out she's not from Santillana del Mar, but from Reinosa - a 70 km drive away. Talk about a commute! I made a mental note to one day visit Reinosa, to see if there are any other Heather Graham lookalikes living there. I hiked the long 2 km back to town, hoping that a Spanish Heather Graham would pull over and pick me ...
... a doner kebab place. Of those we thought our healthiest option was the sandwich place so Kevin got a Chicken supreme and I got a vegetable sandwich (which came on baguettes). On sitting down I realized they messed up my order and put tuna on it, so I went back and found out that yes, of course tuna was a on vegetable sandwich. This is something we have encountered a few times while here in Spain, but throughout Europe there seems to be a consensus that fish is not ...
Potes, Cantabria, Spain and Canary Islands claesch... the beach following a day's activity. The sand was soft, the water cool, and the atmosphere made me feel like I was in Maine rather than...Spain. Nevertheless, our hotel's style seemed to be a mix of an Alpine Village (a la Helen, Georgia) and some some of Dutch architecture. Jon and I had a nice room, which included a Towel Warmer that we were actually unable to figure out how to use it. That night we ventured to the center of our small town for a dinner at a place called ...
Ribadesella, Asturias, Spain jakester21... brave enough to extend his walking stick to the critters as a temporary home. Each time one would start crawling up the stick, we'd hear a shriek and see Samuel spaz out and fling his stick around as if death was just nearly upon him. Too funny! Also on the mountain were approximately twenty sheep and goats and some cows believe it or not. Birds roamed the area, presumably looking to feast on the ladybugs. We were so high up, the clouds were lingering right around us ... whirling ...
