... then finally the hostel. yayyyy.

we ended up meeting 2 australian girls, and one girl, meng basically became our travel buddy for the trip. we spent our 2 days in tours mostly chilling at cafes drinking amazing cafe cremes, and looking at the ridiculously cute timbered houses of place plumerau. we also read trashy girl magazines in french and meng cooked us an amazing dinner. all in all tours was pretty fab.

So we booked a ...

quick visit

Just paid a fleeting visit to St Tropez on the way to Avignon (so we thought)... had to be done really.. a quick wander around and a very quick coffee. It was much smaller than I thought. Lots of nice boats but loads of tourists too.... that was about it!

What a nice surprise

... believe our luck. It was so nice. Still, warm and crystal clear water on sandy beaches. We had a quick swim but knew we had to leave to get to Avignon on time. We then decided that if we found a campsite that was open we would stay. The first 2 we came to were closed and we were sad...but around at st clair beach one was open! Woo hoo!!!! 2 very happy girls. That night we played in the sand like kids ...

French Riviera

From Lucerne we drove to Interlaken for a look around and then on to Bern, the capital of Switzerland. Bern has a population of only about 125000 but we enjoyed a walk around town and a delicious dinner at an outdoor patio. From Bern we drove to Montreux where we walked through the chateaux de Chillon which was surrounded by amazing views. The castle itself was interesting as much of it was left the way it was in the 13th and 15th ...

On our way to Nice

... a couple of slices while we waited for the rain to lighten up. Then headed down Avenue Jean Medecin, the street was barely passable on foot as they were constructing a new tramway up the center of the street to be completed 2007 or 2008. After a bit of confusion we reached the hostel. 22.90 Euro each = 45.80 in a dormitory style (6 bed) with the bathroom down the hall. After the ordeal we just dealt with getting to Nice, we decided we ...

Nice is nice.

long day on the notoriously slow Italian trains back into France. we stay in Nice, a popular spot in the French Riviera, known for its beaches [despite their lack of sand and abundance of rocks] and glitzy hotels right on the water. we stay in a hostel run by some crazy old French women who are extremely friendly, perhaps too much so. our goal in for the area, does not ...

Barcelona...Girona...Nice

... lady pouring me 6 oz. of Bacardi and hand me a coke to go with it. Needless to say, I needed a lot of help drinking that. We saw the Sagrada Famiglia on Monday and sat on the beach later in the afternoon. The weather has been absolutely phenomenal for us. I think it rained only one or two days, and then only part of them. We went out later that night to a much bigger bar (and apparently very touristy) where we were approached by ...
