Hotel City Inn Bad Nenndorf

So I can't really remember much about Hannover besides that there was nothing to see, nothing to do, the weather was bad and the campsite was overpriced! Dont get me wrong, I'm sure its a lovely place with nice weather and during the summer when the gardens are open which is where Hanovers charm is supposed to be. Wasn't our cup of tea so we moved on rather quickly. Byebye Hanover....maybe next time!

... and also one of present day Hannover. These were interesting to look at and compare the damaged city to the rebuilt city. We had to wait about 20 minutes for the elevator to get to the top. ... a whiz of scenery, none of it particularly attractive..and then we hopped of the train at the station..walked to the Europcar hire place which was under the station and there the fun began. The french speaking hire car man was quite nice, but his English not so hot. We picked up the key to the Fiat Punto that had been set aside for us (not the VW Polo..ah well) and he gave us a contract to sign, not much information, the key and some vague instructions about getting out ...

... since I had so little sleep and just trying to not fall over. We packed into a normal sized bus but had to load a lot of the luggage on the inside of the bus. Then we drove the 50 minutes on the Autobahn to Braunshweig!! We couldn't go too fast since the bus is not a Mercedes, Porsche, Volkswagon, BMW or any of the other nice German manufactured cars.

Arrived in Dover mid afternoon having done 300 miles, had fish and chips at some Happy Eater style 'pub' and parked up on the front, having had my last pint of British beer for what I hope is quite a while. The hotel is fabulous (gotta love booking via the net!) and right on the town square reconstucted after the town centre was bombed flat in 1945. Pics will be great.

Hildesheim is the birthplace of my Great Grandfather ( dad's mum's dad) so it's a special place to visit for us.

Now grabbing pizza and trying to find WiFi we can hijack.

We were whisked outside to the plushest VW people carrier I've ever seen. Only 4 individual brown and black leather seats in the back with walnut fittings, TV, and bar equipment but no drinks, but then no trip is ever that perfect. I could have used a drink, the way we flew off onto the No. 2 Autobann to Wolfsburg and the Ritz Carlton Hotel at the AutoStadt.
