... seats. We battled against the human tide, forcing our way out on to the platform. Exiting the station we fought a second skirmish with the screeching hordes of taxi and rickshaw-wallahs competing for our attention. Rather than get involved in any discussion or debate we jumped into the first trishaw, which took off on a trip around the block, only to deposit us at the 'Tourist Hotel', which was directly opposite, and a very short walk from, the station. The rickshaw ...

Dinner, Tyre & Music

We reached Nagpur at 10PM. It was the perfect time for dinner and so was my promptness to announce our proud arrival to my sister & bro-in-law. We ate like animals, well, at least I did. The food was good. E&G liked some dish very much, I don't remember what. What I liked most is the sight of my ever beautiful, lovely, little-- sweetheart niece Gungun. The sound of her voice is like music to my ears. It ...

... that's OK and then checks our pocket with pens in it - OK, before checking out a pair of binoculars. There's one thing after all this, it does give you confidence in flying. The flight has been delayed a few minutes, giving us a bit of breathing space, as I don't think we would have got to check-in for the original closure time. After only ten minutes wait and we are boarding, just having enough time to say goodbye to our American friends going to Mumbai.

Another day, another breakdown...

... the day, the exhaust, which had been getting louder and louder, became so noisy that we couldn't even hear each other when we were shouting, so at the next small village, we pulled over. Someone came over to us, and all he said was 'silencer?'. We nodded enthusiastically, and he pointed us in the direction of a mechanic. Soon the exhaust had been taken off and we were sitting on plastic garden chairs (I never knew they were so comfortable!) drinking chai ...

... pollution control. They will need both here very soon, or this country will be buried and choked under it's own waste and fumes. As the mornings are relatively cool, I made a non-stop 200 km in the morning, through many smaller towns, and a couple of larger cities, overtaking the smoking trucks and buses every few seconds. . There was another reason I did not eat before midday as well, I had been experiencing some **ahem** digestive problems as well ...

... by the confiscation of Pepsi, water bottles, newspapers, books and even mobiles(not a bad thing) by the overexcited Indian stewards/police at the ground...who even managed to drink my 2 litre Pepsi on Day 3, and after much investigation I found out who the guilty police official was....although all I got was an Indian head wobble, and a smile off the thieving git! Most evenings were spent eating excellent veggie food with Paul, SJ, Debs and Hussey ...
