Viana do Castelo

Stayed the night in Viano De Castelo south of Valenca. The town has many cobbled streets which was hard going in the van with the ****** suspension. Most of the cupboard doors stayed closed.Drove up the hill above Viano to a large gothic church that looked down on the town below. What a view from the top though. You can see down the coast to Porto. The place reminded me of a similar church in Turin located up on the hill above the city. Both had a funicular running to the top.

Some flights of steps going up to the castle had disintegrated half way up... none had safety handrails, and not a splish of yellow paint anywhere. No warning signs near ...

I know that when I am there (wherever there is) I will probably only wear the top layer of clothes anyway, as the hassle of rummaging outweighs the benefit of whatever I may find lurking at the bottom of the case, but to be honest unless that tomato soup stain is blaringly obvious, what is the point anyway?
