... but it wouldn't be us if we didn't get lost somewhere along the way. We wandered down to the beach which is grey sandy stuff and rocks, nothing like home beaches but still a beautiful outlook. Found a small alleyway and headed down and stumbled on the other side of the coast and a small inlet with a white sandy beach, how odd to have black rocks on one side of the coast and literally across the road white sandy beaches. The buildings have been painted to look like there ...

We set off from the apartment this morning around 10:30, it's cloudy but warm, expecting 16 degrees, tropical! Purchased tickets for the train back down the coast, planning to get off at Riomaggiore or Manarola (1st and 2nd of the five fishing villages that make up the Cinque Terre). I couldn't help it. We weren't even going that fast, but I just wanted to get a better look and listen. I remember the first time in Italy when I was a kid and I saw a Ferrari Testarossa and how amazed I was by the size of it. Compared to my mum's Opel Corsa 1.0

... it, paid my 3 Euro and hopefully it will be there when I get back. Signage isn't great but I then managed to work out when the next train back to the Cinque Terre was - 30 minutes, sit and relax I'm on Italy time now. On the train I went to Riomaggerio the first town of the Cinque Terre, it was quite small but I went for a wander. Oh I forgot to say when I got my ticket I was told that 3 of the 4 coastal path sections were closed, so ...

... through beech, oak and chestnut woods made it more pleasant. We came across the Tower of Orlando, the only remains of "Old Paciano", destroyed during one of the numerous wars in the middle of the 11th century. Then there was a tumbledown house with a glorious view which has been up for sale for nearly 30 years (at least). The wildflowers on the roadside were amazing. Then we came across a load of bees swarming around their hive in a tree - we could ...
