Casual start to the morning with a croissant and coffee for breakfast, followed by 6 hours walking around Old Town Genoa. The sights around the upper end are much better than the port, we sat on the steps of a church for half an hour and did some people watching.

Au Revoir Nice, back on the train again today, stay was too short. Train travel has been very easy and enjoyable so far apart from that one leg where it was very hot and stuffy.

Catch the Train from Nice Ville to Genova Piazza Principe on the Trenitalia Thello, had four seats to ourselves for most of the way. Travelled through Monte Carlo, San Remo and all along the coast to Genoa.

... dessert, as we were yet to have any but we didn't pass any shops on our way back to the hostel! We walked a bit further up the main road to see if we could find any and just as we were about to give up we found a shop selling gelato!! I had delicious mint and chocolate and was very happy with my first European ice cream. Then we headed back to the hostel for an earlyish night, as we were tired and had a reasonably early train to catch the next ...

I rode the Funicular from Zecco to Righi and walked around the summit, admiring the vista. Another day I wanted to some peace and quiet so I followed Corso Italia along the coast and enjoyed the lovely outlook :). PHOTO_ID_L=the-beach-at.jpg]

OMG what a day we had. This place we went today...fantastic. It's called Cinque Terre and that's pronounced "chink-wa tara". It's about an hour's drive from Genoa and to travel on our own would have required a shuttle from the pier, a bus to the train station, change train in La Spezia and then different trains to the five different villages/towns in Cinque Terra.
