Adamas Milos, Cyclades, Greece, 30-22870-22020
Today we just got back from the most incredible rock beach. The rock was solid formations of bleached white stone, rising in cliffs and leaning into the clear blue sea. The water was warm and the sun was way to hot. The bus system here requires us to shell out about ten euros a day to get around, but its worth it. From camping last night (in the sometimes unsleepable heat!), we woke up and bused into town and then to the Sarakini (the rock beach.) Our camera ran out of batteries ...
Milos, Cyclades, Greece aaronandmirna... The platform had been intentionally built low enough so that the sea waves would crash and wash underneath the tables and lounge chairs. The concept was interesting, but it meant you could not put shoes, beach bags or drinks on the ground beside you because they would be washed away. Occasionally a bigger wave would come, wash over, and actually push all of the chairs (with people) backward along the patio. After a couple of those waves we decided to relocated to lounge chairs that did ...

The main village is called “chora” (as is the case for the main village on any small Greek island). The Chora here is a 16th century town built overlooking the ocean along the edge of a 1,000 ft cliff. It is considered the most pristine and preserved of the classic white Cyclades villages (the white villages you see in all of the photos of Greek). The town has a dozen narrow, pedestrian only streets that are paved with ...
... Cats and dogs in Milos are not aware of the conflicts between the two species. They visit the tables very respectfully And if you throw some food, the dogs very gentlemanly make place to the cats First. His Greek salad is bigger than Manoli's. His Souflaki , roasted lamb and pork are excellent - his plate of sea food mix is totally addictive; it should come with a message "The surgeon general makes it clear that this dish Contain the cholesterol amount ...
Milos, Greece apen26th August 2008 : Athens - Folegandros
Day 2 in Folegandros. We woke up early and walked around the square in Chora. Besides the ancient castle settlement in Chora, the locals basically have their houses along the main paths of the village. In the centre of it all is a square lined with mainly restaurants, a few souvenir shops, one or two shops selling the basic necessities and ...
25th August 2008 : Athens - Folegandros
We took a ferry from Athen's very busy Piraeus Port to Folegandros, a small island situated in the Aegean Sea. It is an island favoured by the Greeks for their vacations because it is less
touristy and more "Greek" in every sense.
We took a ferry called the FlyingCat 3 and it costs us EUR43 per person for a single trip. The ferry was very ...
... being formed by a volcanic eruption. What makes Milos quite an amazing islands are the beaches - they are all very different and all totally amazing. We cycled to the camp site to find out that they were pretty much closed down, we could have stayed but we discovered that the showers were outdoor showers without hot water, there was only one toilet, which also had a shower - again no hot ...
Milos, Greece amanda_odwin... to walk off the enormous meal we had just eater as we strolled along the port side past the illuminated light bulbs hanging over the pretty seaside tavernas nestled between the gumtrees. And to top that off we met up with our new Irish friends Gronya and Aonya (we nicknamed them Onion 1 and Onion 2) as well as our new Greek friends Nick, Nick, Nick (very big fat Greek wedding!) Johnny and George and beautiful Tatiana, and spent the night dancing and chatting with them ...
Milos, Greece mimmy21... to the mountain where there is a church. The only problem was that we did not know how to get up there. After many efforts we end up heading up a goat path with the car. I was so nervous we were making turns with no barrier stopping us from driving off the edge the pictures don't do it justice how steep the road was. The view on top were unbelievable.
Sifnos, Cyclades, Greece corr... with the rest. There is a little bin on the side for the paper. Nice. Andreas decided that as the guest, it would be my job to empty the bin when necessary. After unloading our bags and washing up, Pappou eagerly showed me his little palace. It is basically a very nice little place in the main central strip with a view that most would kill for. Not to neglect the history, this was built by Papou's Grandfather. It is a really beautiful place. I don't want to rattle ...
