... cultures are these giant stone balls, perfectly shaped spheres, which I'll see all over the country. These were symbols of status and wealth back in the day.
But it does make me ask the question: if they were able to carve perfect spheres... why didn't any culture in this part of the world think of inventing the wheel? Just a thought.

... is the big national stadium which sits very neatly in the middle of Sabana Park. The stadium was built by the Chinese as a gift to Costa Rica for them recognising the independence of Tawain!- I recognise Tawain- what do I get? Wonder if they would give me the equivalent in clothes and shoes- after all I am sure they make enough of it- throw in a few electronics too for my recognition, that's what I say!. Anyway there was something going down in the stadium. ...

... Mountains and volcanos surround the Central Valley where 80% of the population live. Caribbean ocean on one side, Pacific on the other.
The 2-hour boat tour was amazing. We saw many, many birds, 2-toed sloths and 3-toed sloths, a family of Howler monkeys near the shore (including mom and baby on her back), Caimans (apparently quite harmless; there were families and kids swimming 25 feet away, undeterred !), ...

The 6 of us (Kirstin, Jayde, Rikki, Josh, Ben and myself) got ourselves to the airport in good time. Once we got to the desk to check in our bags we got told that we had to have a return flight to enter the country. The JetBlue airline ladies were very helpful and we purchased a fully refundable ticket at the desk, to be cancelled as soon as we got ...

... nothing. I saw the whole volcano in Arenal but we were at the resort for a whole day and had the time to see it. Up in the clouds, the weather is highly unpredictable so my verdict is that those tours aren't worth it unless the weather for the day is clear and sunny. I'm here at the height of the rainy season. Off to a delicious lunch at a restaurants after checking out Lankaster Gardens... Nice little place to wander through but I prefer seeing this in the wild. ...
