... Coquelicot for baguette, eclair, and madeleines. Another stop for cheese and produce and back to the apartment to rest up for the night's activities. ... We had a wonderful time visiting the British Museum - there was a special Viking exhibition and after our trip to ireland, it was good to consolidate what we had learnt there. Then it was off to the National Portrait Gallery where I finally saw the original paintings of my favourite royals - the Tudors. I was in seventh heaven! We decided to leave Blois early so that we could get into Paris before 11am. It was approximately 190km and would take us 2 and a half hours. We knew we weren't far from the centre of Paris as the traffic started to get heavy. We arrived at Porte de la Saint Cloud and after nearly 4,000km of driving returned the car and said our goodbye. This was the most magical and marvelous trip, and my favorite trip yet with the collected Striplings. Thank you so much, Charles and Patsy, for making this possible -- it was magic for the girls, and just delightful for Mitch and I. Truly a fabulous experience.
