Arrived in Amsterdam yesterday, Tim's friend, Woody, was too busy and can only catch up with us Saturday night, so we thought, ok let's go visit Maryke's uncle Falkert (the brother of Tim's beloved Oma). Falkert and his wife (Phinneka, currently visiting her sister in Canada) live just over an hour away from Amsterdam, in Leeuwarden. Falkert said he'd pick us up and arrange for us to sleep somewhere Friday night.. We wernt too sure what this meant but said ok! Turns out dear old Falkert, ...

We stopped a bit further along to have our lunch on the dyke. Very nice. Next a drive down through Friesland to ...

He kept talking about how great the beach was and how perfect a place it was for launching and landing...=) Some day...but now we had to get ready to go back to Amsterdam and start our 8 day bicycle tour to ...

... country's current land mass.

Despite having been to The Netherlands on a prior trip and having close Dutch friends, I didn't know that Holland is a province of The Netherlands. I may have been told a long time ago but had definitely forgotten it. Now I will remember it. Thanks, Rick Steves! I got the clarification on one of his podcasts that Brian claimed I fell asleep listening to)

Anyway, we arrived in Harlingen ...
