... in Manaus. However, when we got there, a local tour guide picked us up and we found ourselves on one of the hop on hop off tour busses. We did the main sights in Manaus and overheard some very bogan Australians on the bus too. Of course they were from Melbourne and that explained why we didn't get along ;) We saw the Manaus football stadium and their river beach set up. You can see the difference between the black rio Negro and the browny/Yellow ...

A travel blog entry by andyhill on Jun 18, 2014

Game day!!! Cameroon vs Croatia (0-4) First FIFA World Cup football game! Pretty amazing experience, massive stadium full of crazy football fans. No hassles getting in, even though it wasn't my name on the ticket. Took us almost two hours to get the bus to the stadium even though it is not that far away, the traffic was crazy. To give you an idea, andy had time to jump off, run into a shop, relieve ...

Life on the Amazon is like a box of chocolates. There's 16 different types and it's inevitable that at least 2 or 3 are gonna taste like bunghole. With those general numbers in mind I thoroughly enjoyed 14/16ths of my time in Manaus and the remaining 2 of 16 was quite a culture shock. Derelict graffiti covered walls and the sheer amount of extreme poverty throughout the city was certainly a shock to my privileged yuppy existence. Looking ...
