Roger and Alison are taking to car to Diksmuide today and coming back by train, so I am doing laundry, having a wander round town again, and getting dinner ready for the weary travellers. Our first stop was actually a German cemetery. Germany was so confident that they would walk through Belgium that they sent mainly young student soldiers, some under 18. They got beaten soundly and many were at this cemetery. There are 44,000 here with 25,000 in a central grave with 15,000 of these unknown.
