... square in Carmelo had a couple of options, one of which worked.

Turns out the hostel does not exist where stated and most
hotels near the river, about 10 blocks from the Plaza. Had to go to the ferry
terminal to get decent info and a map and then settled on a nearby hotel after
exhausting 3 other, 2 of which were unmanned – 700 pesos and not nice!

... 10 years ago and clearly developers have realised its potential! Many towers have been built giving everyone the opportunity to look out at the glistening sea/river. The towns nearby have become trendy hubs with bars and fashionable clothes shops. Especially La Barra further to the east, with a calm lagoon which is perfect for a relaxed picnic compared to the choppy, windy and more exposed beaches on the sea.
