... It was a very short homily and we were able to follow along with the rest of mass, although were very surprised when the priest pulled out a guitar to lead the Our Father- it was beautiful. We shared "peace" with the Germans around us and received Holy Communion. Then, their was a Eucharistic procession that all participated in-- bands, flags, tents-- the whole shebang. Our waitress told us that it is because of tomorrow's feast day of the Nativity of our ...

... we left-- very bad move. The Varenna train station was packed, and also closed. So we couldn't print out our ticket, nor validate it. We were well equipped for the task, with our hammer and chisel borrowed from our hotel. Our guide, Monika, was very knowledgeable about the area, and once she showed us what to look for we were able to spot and collect quite a few nice garnet samples. For ...

Great Day in the Mountains of Tyrol

We had a great day in the mountains today and made it up to well over 10,000 feet (10,750 to be exact). We accomplished this feat by taking 3 separate gondolas and also hiking over 500 metres of elevation gain. At a high point above the final gondola (which we had to cross a snowfield to reach - shades of the coming Yukon weather) there was a large needle-shaped marker and a tabletop 360 degree photo showing all the ...
