A midday dock today so plenty of time to enjoy the delights of the ship this morning. We've taken to breakfasting at the back of the ship and its virtually our own private balcony. It's maybe a new tradition. This morning was exceptionally good as we saw 2 whales playing, clear as a bell near to the ship. ... sides. We shared a lovely bottle of red wine (Patrimonio, 2011, from Domaine Giacometti). The curry wasn't what I had expected--it came with spaghetti, not rice, and had more turmeric than curry taste.

We arrived at the Miramar Boutique Hotel around 12:30, and our room was ready. It's a beautiful room with a great view from our patio. We had stopped earlier to get a baguette of French bread and stopped here in town to get cheeses and another squid salad. We had visions of having lunch on the beach today, but our patio was as nice if not better. We felt like we were on the beach but didn't have to get sandy.

... viewing the jellyfish that were sheltered in one of the coves. It included a stop at a local beach which looked rather gray and rocky compared to Grand Bend. The tour would have been perfect if only the boat captain (and tour guide) had spoken some English! After our return, we had a picnic lunch overlooking the water in Porto. To wear off some of our lunch we hiked up the hills to the Genoese tower that overlooks Porto, to have a beautiful view of the town. Peter ...
