    Farewell to Fouli

A travel blog entry by arwie on Jul 16, 2014

Into Charakopio and meet Sitaris. Insists that we come to see him as he has a large pot of olive oil for us. Sadly no time before we leave (and realistically, no room in the van for more olive oil). Last dinner at Foulis, sitting outside watching the world go by. Very pleasant though only semi understood chats with Ianni, Foulis and their son Michaelis. Lots of hugs goodbye and gifts of ouzo, olives and olive oil. I am sure we will see them ...

I had a very happy hour in Gill's studio choosing a little clutch of her wonderful paintings. Thank you Padams! A very talented lady and very good company to boot! Sitting with Mick and Gill in their pretty garden with wine, ouzo and meze made the whole thing even more memorable. You can see some of Gill's work on facebook.com/gilltomlinsonart or wait for me to get home and unpack my ...

For those who wanted a whole loaf that was fine too! We were given huge bunches of grapes picked off the vine growing over the taverna, large plates of freshly picked figs from Kostas' tree and even the only rose from the garden when it was my birthday!

We were there at a quiet time of the season and enjoyed the company of ...

... it would take, who could know? So we were packed up and in bed fairly early, ready for whatever might eventuate.

    Kastoria, Greece
The drive to Kastoria proved to be . . . interesting. The roads were not the best for a fair portion of the driving. We got stuck in a nasty traffic jam whilst driving through Athens, which worked well to spike pulse rates and create a nice sweaty lather. Many of the roads were also been rebuilt or moved or other things. A few ...
