... and it appears we caught the boat going in the opposite direction to what we wanted and so have to catch another back to Lido and then it will continue to San Marco.... This is getting difficult, and by now it is nearly dark, so we will struggle to see the rest of the sights. As we approach San Marco finally, we can see that the sky is very dark and there is a storm approaching. We get off and look around for the station to catch the boat back home and it is about ...

It was all very interesting but I think back then there would have been a bit of skulduggery going on. Anyway we went into the Doges Palace and it was great. A bit pricey at €16 but still worth a look. It had a grand hall that was about 60m by 35m with timber panelled seating around the hall and oil paintings on the walls and ceilings. It ...

... Spectacular, superb, out of this world! The minute you get off the train and exit the stations doors it's there, almost shoved in your face! Every image known to you previously, all staring you in your face, gondola's, masks, beautiful glass! It is the most surreal place we've visited, and I think the most beautiful! There is a glow about Venice that touches you - it is in every corner, every ...
