As unforgettable as Peles Castle was, we actually came to Sinaia for a different reason - to do a bit of hiking in the mountains of Romania, and to briefly escape the country's stifling heat. Sinaia itself isn't that great, a very expensive tourist town, that is a bit reminiscent of Banff, in all the wrong ways. However, its cable car up to the mountains is super convenient for hikers, and was one of the draws for staying here.

... 1920's the princess of Hungary moved in and renovated/redecorated the whole place so it's actually quite pleasant and livable! You can still find your fair share of Dracula t-shirts and assorted paraphernalia in the gift shops nearby though...Mike was dissuaded from buying most of matter how much he insisted he might need a real Dracula knife and coffee mug.
