0630 CET - Up! - Yamoto our Japanese coffee grinder has been action and we sit sipping our coffee in readiness for out trip to The Kuekenhof Bulb Fields outside Amsterdam. We will take a train from The Central Station to Leiden and then I think there is some sort of tour bus (arrrggghh!). ... an upmarket David Jones). Then to the " My dream exhibition" of Vincent Van Gogh. It displayed reproductions of his best known works carefully restored and partly remastered to original colours. Gave a wonderful overview of his life through the art - for a very sad man his paintings are beautiful - apart from his work from an asylum where he spent some time.after a quick lunch we went to join the City Sights tour- which was delayed due ...

... handed in at H&M for discount coupons. And for months already I have been slowly but steadily eating my way through the vast stock of rice, pasta and beans in my kitchen cupboards.

... seated across the lane by the river. Some customers moor up their boat and walk up the short flight of stone steps straight to a table! It's a different lifestyle....it's a lovely lifestyle. The other nice thing about Leiden is it was not too busy; it was relaxed, genteel, pretty...another vibrant town, more stepped gables, couple of windmills, lots of boats and a humungous number of bicycles!

... fresh pan fried cod as a "main." Everything (no matter what you are eating for dinner in the Netherlands) is served with a side of fries and mayo - they're not even considered an option. It's quite strange. as a dessert Gerard treated us to a smorgasbord of small desserts... my favorite was a tiramisu ice cream pie... Heavenly!
