... the aluminum factory. And she works in education. They have just opened the guesthouse and are excited to host visitors. I cannot recommend them highly enough. You can find them on airbnb, and they just started a Facebook page. We'll be sharing some of our photos with them.

At the beginning of the day, Fjola had said that they could only let one of us ride the horse, and we all agreed it had to be Xenia, but as were were all chatting in the barn, she eventually offered ...

Holy Bucket of Chicken

... of us. Once we made sure she yelled at them too, we turned around and headed back to the car.

Next stop: Selfoss! By now it was almost 1:00 PM which could only mean one thing...KFC was open! Xenia loves fried chicken!! The night before we had placed bets on how much a two piece meal would cost. I am unfamiliar with KFC as I can't say it is a place I frequent...or infrequent. Based on the high costs of food everywhere else, I guessed 1200 ISK ($10). Xenia bet ...

... had seen last September. After waiting for other tourists to vacate the prime photography spot, we snapped as many photos as we could before others could move in on us. Many hikers brought along some food to eat @ the base of the waterfall, which heightened our appetites.

After a quick 20 minute hike down the trail, we returned to the Skaftafell Visitor Centre. Inside, we purchased some Icelandic beer for Andrew & I, ...

... Then we walked around the shopping district where we looked at lots of wool sweaters and stuffed puffins, and we went to a cafe for lunch and tea, which was delicious! Mom freaked out over the jasmine tea, I was just happy to sit down honestly. Then we kept walking and window shopping and also booked a whale watching tour for tomorrow. (MORE WHALES!) We finally finished with delicious Italian food (right?! weird. Although traditional fare here is ...

The girls and Tony ordered sample ...

Clean facilities and quiet place. Very good service with helpful people. Great mountains view. Beds could be a bit more comfortable and breakfast does not have a lot of choices but overall a great experience.

We had an excellent stay in Hotel Bru in May 2012. The dinners were excellent (we rarely eat in restaurants, let alone hotel restaurants) so this is a great compliment to the owner/chef. The upstairs rooms are small but so is the price.
