... plus it wasn’t as busy as we expected.

We had a lovely evening wandering around the streets and exploring its various nooks and crannies, and then stumbled upon a cliff top bar looking out to the island of Lokrum where we watched the sun go down over the Adriatic.

As we slowly strolled back, we met a cheeky chap called Simon who was wearing a "Road Trip" t-shirt who tried to entice us into ...

Everywhere I went, I would hear someone pointing at a house and saying "I think that’s the Marco Polo house." I have no idea which was the Marco Polo house, but surely I saw it somewhere. ... and towards Lokrum island, a small island that is only inhabited by a monastery and hiking trails. There are no other buildings but the monastery and it's gorgeous and in its original condition. From here we paddled into a cove nestled between Dubrovnik and the next town. It only took half an hour to get here from the first island, but we were so exhausted. Kayaking is really tiring on your arms and your lower back, we were happy to have a break! Here we spent a couple of ...

... Today, the town is basically split into two groups with the Croatians on one side and the Serbs on the other. Unfortunately, even today, the two factions do not work well together, with a large tower dominating the landscape on the Croatian side and the typical mosque towers on the other. Claudia provided a very unbiased account of the background behind the conflict, and even today she is not convinced of long-term stability of the region. The most famous structure in town is the ...
