... this was, but it was pretty good, and very reasonably priced.

I had one last walk around the city center before coming back to the hotel. I got the chance to Facetime with my mom and sister on Mother’s Day. Now I’m getting my stuff together for tomorrow when I’m taking a high speed train to St. Petersburg. Moscow has been a pleasant surprise, I’m hoping St. Petersburg doesn’t disappoint either. ...

... fountains. On the first afternoon we walked to the statue of Lenin which is still there. The Moscow State University overlooks the park. It is one of the seven sisters, the buildings from post war times and it dominates the skyline. There are several stadia and indoor sports facilities here. A very pleasant environment with the Moscow river on one side and Novodevichiy Convent and its golden domes not far away.. Looking forward to more exciting times in the next week.

... English is perfect even though she kept claiming that she forgot much of it. Gorky Park was highly recommended among tourists, but Sarah held the opposite opinion. It was just a park, and she was right. Nothing special so I fell into the trap of "I have been here". It is a good place though for the local people to hang out, especially among young people. It has taken us a while to warm to the city because (this may sound cliche) it does appear grey; minimal customer service is provided to English tourists; the cars look older than most of the living and prehistoric buses get pulled around on a web of electricity cables that hardly look able to power a light bulb!
