      ... toured the significant Gothic cathedral, followed by a return loop along the tree-lined river promenade. It was a little like a day we would spend coming down to Oakland, or having them come up to St. Helena -- only we were in Spain! So saying good-bye means a few more months than usual.

      To take advantage of great weather, being north already and an uncrowded Sunday evening/Monday morning, we hugged Julie and Rich and drove a couple hours south ...

      Tarjados to Hontanas - 20.8 kms Awake early (with 10 in a room) and on the road by around 7.30. First stop the tiny settlement of Rabe de las Calzados for a cup of tea / coffee. Then on to Hornillos del Camino where we ended up with the usual ham & cheese roll with a coffee for a late breakfast and a break. Onward for a couple of ...

      ... the city which took us around the airport, along the river and through parkland, as opposed to traipsing the hot and noisy streets of the city. We've only had to walk into two large cities so far, Pamplona and Burgos, and both times it seemed it would never end. I don't know what it is about walking from the perimeter to the centre of a city, but it is such an arduous affair...

      Finding the hotel was an interesting exercise... Because we'd taken a different route into ...

      Awesome Albergue tonight. Single beds but in a loft above all the bunks. Uh......and......you could easily fall down to the bunks and the log and ropes you can see in the pic actually move in and out. Not attached *laughing* ...but don't want to have to get up in the night. The ladder to the loft isn't an easy climb *more laughing*. But....the French couple who are clearly ...

      It was good sleeping last night knowing that we had a rest and didn't have to get up early, all organised and packed etc. but of course we did wake fairly early anyway as I guess that is now the pattern.
