... bord** and went to bed early because it was seedy and got up the next morning to go to Cotonou, Benin. All was fine for about 2 hours, and then the van broke down. We all just sat by the side of the road for 3 more hours. Not really sure what was happening at that point - the driv** may have gone for a part, or may have gone ...
Niamey, Niger teten... week. I don't know where they got their materials to build the tunnel (I noticed a bunch of dead ant carcasses by the window every morning...but I'm pretty sure it was dirt from the outside), and I don't really think they had a clear vision of their destination because once they get to the ceiling...well, there's not place else to go and what did they really accomplish?? This was the photo I took of them right before I left.
Niamey, Niger lee.carter... in process of incorporating it into their offices. It is a milestone and major accomplishment for my work with Bible League. Of course, sev**al of the offices have had various challenges in incorporating the software and the offices' effectiveness with Quickbooks are all various levels. But at least they've all been trained. As my north-central US kinsfold would say, "All that's left now is the shouting!"
Niamey, Niger lee.carter... drought and famine problems, Niamey is full to bursting with development organisations - UNICEF, World Vision, you name it, they're h**e and each of those organisations comes complete with a good stock of white people. So, whilst people rightly describe ***** as the least francophone country in all of West Africa, I've nev** encount**ed so many English speak**s in the one place - even people on the bus on the way up h**e. I must say, I enjoy the small town attitude a lot ...
Niamey, Niger simsarahAs the temp**ature in this region of the planet was rising towards the v**y hot mark, I was starting to wond** if coming to ***** was such a good idea. But in ***** I was, and specifically Niamey the capital. H**e I decided, a day to rest, a day to see the sights and a day to leave. On my day of rest I purposely absented myself from a wild giraffe spotting tour and on it's return found out I'd missed a rock throwing, teargas and a burning tyre student demonstration which ...
Niamey, Niger jeanchristophesDear Friends and Family- Joe and I just took a 3-week "vacation" to *****, Burkina Faso, and Mali (the 2nd, 4th and 7th poorest countries in the world respectively) and we wanted to share our exp**ience. *****: Aft** a grueling 11-hour tros tros ride (imagine 20 people in a Windstar, your knees pressing into the seat so hard th**e are bruises and ev**y time th**e was a police stop you had to climb out the window) we arrived at the Peace Corps Hostel in Niamey ...
Niamey, Niger joe_jenniToo much has happened since last time I wrote to give you even a semi-detailed account of what I've been up to, so instead h**e's a quick run-down sans details: Fada-Ngourma, last town in Burkina Faso. Vultures harrass you from the rooftops. Three non-working toilets and a basin full of dried vomit - I was glad to leave. ***** bord** had been closed for three days due to the gen**al election, leaving traffic stacked to the horizon and creating a ...
Niamey, Niger slowchimesCamels, turbans, minarets, dried mud cities, hot sun, and des**t landscape...***** sometimes felt like being in Disney's Aladdin. I wouldn't have been surprised to find an old dusty lant**n with a genie inside. Nor would I have been shocked to find that the carpet/blanket that I slept on und** the stars one night had suddenly decided to take flight and transport me through the stars, ov** a dusty town, and off into the des**t. ***** was quite a magical trip, but it started off like ...
Niamey and Agadez, Niger suzyinbeninAside from having the dubious honor of being the poorest nation on earth (Burkina Faso dukes it out with ***** each year), I knew little about the country to my north h**e in Benin. ***** conjured images of des**t and camels, turbaned people, and thirst... yes thirst... In that regard, ***** met all my expectations- th**e was des**t, th**e w**e camels, th**e w**e turbaned folk... and I was t**ribly thirsty the entire trip. The trip began with an eight hour ride up ...
