    Arrived at our destination, Altea on Saturday July 4. Stayed the first 4 nights with Percy , Simons buddy from school days, and his very gracious wife, Begonia. Their apt is located one block from the beach front. It has been kind of like summer camp. They have kept us entertained with home cooking, swimming, kayaking, picnics, sidewalk tapas,  One  evening we all went for an incredibly beautiful hike up the mountain to the lighthouse .     One of the joys of having plenty time is that you can be flexible with where we want to go and how long we stay somewhere. We have a rough week by week plan of where we want to be but not a day to day timetable.

    However this can lead to multiple changes to the days itinerary. We alway start with plan "A" but this regularly can change to plan "B" and sometimes plan "C" appears out of no where! The other day we change our minds several times ...

    On our way to Altea, we passed through parts of Benidorm, it was in our opinion, pretty grim, but, different people like different things, the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same, would it not.

    ... the old part of Gandia, and came across a Catholic Church, with, this explanation of its origins.

    First they build a church, on top of their mosque. Then, even after they have agreed to convert to Christianity, and donated to the church building fund, they get kicked out anyway.
