Our first full day in paradise!
We woke up after twelve hours of much needed sleep. Tonga is twenty hours ahead of California, so we didn't feel that jet lagged. We went for a run on very thick sand. After thirty minutes of struggling, we gave up and enjoyed a nice breakfast at the open air restaurant shared by so many others we had met the night before.

We were so excited to have a full day on the beach – just relaxing, resting, and reading our books. We woke up very enthusiastic and ran for 45 minutes through the thick sand. We were trying our best to stay in shape as much as possible to be ready for our upcoming four week trek in Nepa. After crossing the International Dateline, we arrived in Tonga on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 23rd – more than two days after we originally left San Francisco.
