... day preparing Mako to move again. We put everything back together, cleaned up and put the outboard back up. We then tried to pull our dinghy back on deck (for sure this thing is heavier than advertized!!?&*@!) and somehow our halyard pulling it up came untied. The dinghy crashed back into the water and started floating away, and the halyard whizzed back into the mast and disappeared- no more spare halyard. Marty took off his shoes and dove in ...

... had nothing to do really, I walked in the garden, saw the raspberry bushes, a lovely tree house, a little pond with fish, the lawn where the dogs love to play around... A little paradise!

I so much enjoyed to be part of a family, everybody around the breakfast table in the morning, the funny Corki dogs, the cat that comes to sleep on my bed, and seeing my old friend Phil after so many years.

The other thing is that there are train tracks on both sides of the river, and they announce themselves coming into Marlboro on our side. It was a bit of a loud night, but what can you do. Staying at the yacht club would have been exactly the same, but more expensive! We were planning to get up and leave by 6 am to make it to ...

... bar counter and tables and chairs were amazing. The bar was set up overlooking the Hudson, and the band played in an open building (these are both covered of course!) a small distance from the bar. There were booths with chairs and tables connecting the two buildings, and in the "courtyard" there were also some chairs and tables. I imagine on a clear hot night this courtyard is filled with people dancing, but tonight's downpour and cooler temperature ...

... back to beautiful river views. Our anchorage at Houghtaling Island was very pretty and we felt like we were in a jungle..... the birds were so loud and as the afternoon progressed the crickets took over. In the morning we were lucky to see a bald eagle right near our boat... after the fog lifted a little. We waited a little until it was clear before Marty pulled up the anchor. It was really hard to get up and really muddy- but we wouldn't have gone anywhere in any wind for ...
