Cheap and cheerful

This is a great budget hotel, spread out over a few separate buildings but essentially right on the beach. It is super clean, with friendly staff. I must say though, I have never been to a beach resort where you have to cross train tracks to get to your breakfast. This is the price of having a railway line that runs along the coast it has meant that restaurants have been built on the beach but to get to them you have to cross train tracks which is indeed where the hotel restaurant is.

... about another half an hour before he left, luckily no police showed up :-). To make the day worse we soon realised that our room was absolutely filthy and as dingy as hell, definitely the worse place we had stayed in so far. It smelled like something had died in there but we couldn't be bothered to kick up a fuss and the owner had helped us out earlier so we grin and bared it for one night. To try and balance things out we treated ...

... and had another great nights sleep! The next morning we swam for a while, and then another 9 hour car ride back. It was an amazing experience to see how there people all live. I talked to my coordinator, and there is an option for me to do teach english in the Jungle, so I might go there in 2 weeks! Time is flying by so fast! Hard to believe I only have a month and a half left! There is no way that this is my last time volunteering. I caught the volunteer ...

Kerala, Sri Lanka, and Airport Fun

... place teach us lots about the elephants in India and Sri Lanka but we also got a chance to get an "elephant shower" in one of the close by rivers. For anyone who haven't experienced this, and like me, imagine yourself on the back of the elephant with water drizzling down over you like in a romantic movie, you (and I) are in for a surprise. This experience sure was a fun one but it felt more like someone was aiming the shower head on full speed in your face when the ...

... board closely and even walked outside to check but nothing seemed to be happening. The stated boarding time came and went and still nothing. I could foresee this being a bit of a problem. Qatar Airways had given me a 55 minute turnaround in Doha which was great in one way as I would not have to sit about the airport too long but it worried me slightly as I had always been informed that one hour was the industry standard minimum for international layovers. Still, ...

That's what I thought. So I went to Pettah Market and they're still close. Had a good breakfast at the Fort Railway Station. Weather was warm. We were met with a few 'touts'. I wouldn't actually call them touts. They didn't sell anything but kept trying to bring us to the gem exhibition or the Buddhist Festival. Four times in two days. But as long as we firmly say not interested, they'll ...
