Bill had also read that alcohol is not readily available, which he told me, but I did not comprehend just how difficult it really was to get a beer. The grocery store did not sell beer, so we looked on line and asked at the front desk. ... Landscaping crews work constantly to keep up the gardens and parks. I even saw workers vacuuming the sidewalks after the sand storm.There is no grafitti, litter or derelict building. The area where Ian and Alison live is very safe and the girls play outside every day.

I got back to the hotel after flagging down a taxi that had just dropped off a man that was barely ambulatory. He hadn’t gotten his gimpy leg out of the taxi fast enough before I jumped in. I wanted back to the hotel and STAT!!! I overpaid the cabbie, as I tend to do. You see, there is no clear charge for a taxi. The meter says one thing, but they hit a button and then it says another.
