... bad reviews we had read. Our experience here was not bad at all but it definitely depends on where in the city you choose to stay. We can also understand why people leave as soon as possible if they have a tight schedule. And having had enough of the huge city, we chose the beach of Pangandaran as our next stop. We thought we could spend the new year's eve relaxing by a quite beach. We could have never imagined what expected us there.

... the station at 1400 for our bus at 1430, but in typical Indo style the bus didn't arrive until 1530. We crammed our bags at our feet and there was no room for us to put our feet down or stretch them out. We decided it was better to be uncomfortable for a few hours than have our bags stolen at the many stops they made and opened the baggage doors every time. What we thought was going to be a 9-10 hour bus ride, getting us into Jakarta at 11 or 12 ended up being a 15 hour bus ride! ...

... to another adjoining area..Mangga Dua ... this area is suffocating in shopping centers. There are six large shopping centers in one area.. it is the largest wholesale complex in Asia, and home to thousands of retailers who offer quality products at unbeatable prices.
oh, what fun..handbags, watches, jewellery, clothes,linen,shoes,artificial plants etc etc.. could be lost in here for days..no pressure from sellers aka some countries..found it ...

... ended up on my plate. Despite Dave's lackluster review of Indonesian food, my first intro to it was pretty good this AM. It was all non-pork related, but the noodles, rice, and baked tomato options were great. I tried a capuccino to jolt me out of my latent sleepiness, which reminded me that although it looks and smells great, I just can't seem to like coffee. I was fine with my guava juice!
