Historical Traveler Reviews Grey's Hotel Brighton

    Great Stay

    from

My parents stayed at Grey's for 6 days and were totally happy with the accomodation. Terry was always very welcoming and served a very nice breakfast. Apparently the fresh cut fruit salad was the highlight of every breakfast.

On the last morning they had to leave very early in the morning, around six, and Terry got up and made them some coffee and again a delicious fruit salad.

The only little downside, the door of the room, king size room, was not sealed properly and so light was shining through all night.

Thank you very much for a pleasant stay.

    Fantastic Few Day's

    from

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at this lovely hotel for a few days. Terry, the owner, was very welcoming and friendly.

The hotel has been recently refurbished and extremely well designed, we stayed in room 7 which had a modern four poster, lovely bedding and inch thick carpets. The hotel itself has been put together with great attention to detail and is stylish without being too serious.

All of this and the wonderful breakfast (everything ranging from fresh fruit salad and pastries to the good old full English) meant that we had a great stay and would not hesitate to return or recommend the Grey's to others.

    Fantásticos días

    from

    Fab little hotel

    from

My boyfriend and I stayed at Greys in mid July for two nights.

The hotel is in a great location within easy reach of the town centre and near some great bars and restaurants in Kemp Town.

The owner Terry was lovely as were the guys from London who served us our breakfast. (The breakfasts are good too!)

We booked a standard double which was very well decorated and equipped and perfect for a weekend away.

The parking is a bit of a pain in Brighton but we plonked the car down at the marina as we werent going to use it all weekend and then got the little train back to the pier.

    Fantástico hotelito

    from

    Wonderful visit

    from

Grey's is a really marvellous find. It's beautifully furnished, and imparts a real sense of luxury and comfort from the moment you walk in the front door. My en-suite bedroom was stylishly appointed, and the bed itself one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. The breakfast was excellent, served by the affable host, Terry Sessions, in a bright and most pleasant dining room. All in all, the whole visit was a delight. I shall certainly return.

    Maravillosa estancia

    from

    from

Great place to stay in Brighton

    from

I had a wonderful time staying at this Hotel. The room I stayed in had a real wow factor when I walked in with huge floor to ceiling windows and an amazing four poster bed. The decor was great , the atmosphere was great , the breakfast was the best Hotel breakfast I have had and Terry the owner couldn't have been more charming or helpful. I will definitely return to Brighton and Grey's Hotel as soon as possible.

    Great, stylish little hotel

    from

My fiance took me to Brighton for a romantic get away from London and he couldn't have found a better place. It's location is great, a minute from the sea and around 10 minutes walk to all the great restaurants and bars in central Brighton. The hotel had just been renovated (or just opened I think) so all fittings, furnishings, toiletries etc were of a very high standard and very stylish. Our room on the top floor had a gorgeous feature wall and lovely bay windows letting in lots of light and some sea views, a peek in a another room showed a beautiful four poster bed and a different style wall, so you can tell a lot of thought has gone into the finer details in this hotel. Finally, the host was very friendly and helpful; all in all, we were very impressed.

... did make me laugh to myself as I imagined a whole host of helpers looking like glow worms.

Next there was a difficult stretch ahead as we had a single track through woodland which was a mass of tree roots underfoot, not ideal when it’s daylight and even worse when you can only see a few feet ahead of you. It’s just as well Katie had mastered the art of wearing her head torch the right way round by now!

No photos allowed and a $20 admission fee stopped me from looking at the extravagances inside it. Whether they are beautiful or just ostentatiously tacky is open to debate but I have just seen a youtube video in which Queen Victoria is reported to have said that " It is a strange, odd Chinesy looking place, both inside and out" ...

... a perfect example. After tea I emerged and roamed back to the Pavilion where I popped into the Dome Museum that was free. While the building is gorgeous with mosaics and lovely arches and wood the exhibits didn't much catch my attention. That is except for the exhibit on theater from around the world. The masks and puppets were fascinating reminding me of my Asian theater class and the project I did with a friend on Vietnamese water puppetry that ...
