... said that we therefore should have a visa for Argentina as the usual 3 month one allocated on arrival would not suffice. We stood our ground, explaining that we were only going to be in Buenos Aires for a month and were then going by sea to Uruguay and onwards through South America, all overland. She said it may be a problem when we arrived in BA but eventually agreed to let us continue on our way (phew!). As it turned out, the immigration officials in BA never even queried it, but I ...
Deagon, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia jenandtonyYesterday we travelled through Brisbane to find Spaceships so we could exchange some DVD's. For me this was the first time driving in the centre of a major city and I'd say the first time for Amelia being a passenger in one too. She was more scared, nervous and stressed than I was and somehow managed to direct me there after a near possible pull over attempt. I pulled into an under ground car park thinking we could get off the road and map read together to ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia ollieandmeals... views of the CBD if your Queenslander is situated in the correct position. Queenslanders are the original wooden houses built in this area, they are slightly raised on stilts, to increase the air flow, made of local timber, with large upper decks which now house the ubiquitous large gas Barbie and resident possum in the roof. I'm currently sitting on their deck as dusk gathers and the local bird life flies home to roost. The local pigeons are rainbow ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia hess... ID's to get in no matter how old you look. We decided to chance "the beat" before we planned to taxi back to the hostel for ID. Luckily after playing the "but were from Enlgand we don't have photo ID" card and "Im 36 blah blah" he took pity on us and let us in. We got in there and it was like a maze, different rooms different floors. Before we came in I asked if it was a gay venue and he said it was mixed ut more so upstairs. It all looked very ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia oldhamguy... of the night as far as we are concerned! The room was meant to be ready at 10.30. We got there at that time - not ready, then 11 - not ready. Then just a couple of minutes - after 10 mins still not ready. The trouble with travellers doing cleaner jobs for travel money is they have the same cleaning personality as at home - this one had ocd! we saw her vacuuming skirting boards and everything which seemed rather excessive! Very ...
Brisbane, Australia yvetteandjack... I can imagine that what the was like for most Australians (the ones bbqing and drinking with friends and family), that's what my 4th of July would have been like. Except I'll be flying back to the States, so I'll just have to live with the substitute! The one bonus is that if my flights go according to plan, I just might be flying across the continental US with fireworks all around. Imagine what that would look like from a plane!

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia lasse.svensson... on wine & port. We all shared some Aussie & English stories which was a great laugh and enjoyable. We even got onto the Convicts versus Poms issues!! All in all we had a fantastic evening and we have to thank Susan, Bev, Leo and Alan for that. A good insight into casual Aussie life - really good. It was well after midnight before we finally made it to bed and that was only because Leo & Bev had work in the morning, otherwise I think we all could have been there until sunrise!
Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia vickersontour... Having sated our camera's memory cards, we proceeded towards the first in a string of narrow beaches kissing Moreton Bay. Scotts Point and Margate Beach is obviously a favourite among Redcliffe's octogenarians. We saw quite a few old codgers plunging into the whitecaps. Good on 'em! Suttons Beach was a different kettle of fish. Verdant grass lawns, white sand and calm water makes this an ideal location for the family with adorable ...
Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia johannesl... captain said in a rather somber voice that sometimes the whales get injured as this one appeared to be and that they would be reporting the location to the wildlife service. Than as we pulled up to it we all realized that the call would not need to be made. This was not a whole whale; it was only one really large chunk of really small, baby whale. Apparently sharks like to eat whales. So sad, lets all have a moment of silence ...
