... and they jokingly argue about whether the boy will be a skier or a tennis player! We also got into quite a discussion about the situation in the Middle East with Israel and Palestine. It was interesting to see he was more sympathetic for the Palestinians. He was born in Switzerland but lived in Canada for quite a while. Mary-Lou is from Europe. I think they both do skiing and that is how they met. They were a really lovely couple and we all got the European kisses from them ...

... bright, with just a little bit of cloud around on the peaks. After a lot of cajoling, eating cake and playing on the playground, we convinced Liam and Isobel to walk up to the lookout, mainly using the divide and conquer method. Brendon carried Isobel most of the way (1km uphill) and Liam and I took our time and stopped and played in the snow on the way. Our hotel is typically Swiss chalet style, comfortable and basic but a lovely big room with all we needed. It's a shame the owner’s attitude let it down!

Oh what a day Saturday 10th of May turned out to be! A beautiful, sunny day just perfect to do our tour ...

... a perfect temperature. We were perfectly happy as the train smoothly meandered its way through the alpine trees situated on the beautiful banks of Lake Interlaken; we were awestruck at such a stunning landscape outside.

At Interlaken station we interchanged and took another train up to the hamlet of Lauterbrunnen, and then onto the ski resort of Wengen. It was just a little early for ski season here, but both places were incredibly clean and picturesque.
