Day 2 O Porrino to Arcade 14.5 miles It looked like rain all morning, but we lucked out and didn't get wet. As a result it was cool and a little breezy until the afternoon when the clouds lifted and the sun came out. We kept putting on and taking off our windbreaker. The little village where we are staying is on the edge of Ria de Vigo, an enormous river that looks more like a lake- beautiful views through the valley down to the shore. It became apparent to both of us today ...

... made me think about the normal food we are eating on this journey- here everything is about the food. Breakfast is usually coffee with milk- a kind of cafe latte, a fresh roll or croissant, bacon (more like our ham) orange juice, slices of cheese and many times ham, and occasionally some fresh fruit. Dayy 23 San Roque to Tui, Spain 12.4 miles

We're in Spain. Today we completed our walk through Portugal and crossed the river into Spain. It was such a feeling of accomplishment to walk into another country. ... storm around 9 am Saturday morning, a ring necked dove landed on the boat, exhausted. We named him Eric and he pooed absolutely everywhere! Dawson was not amused and there was the odd suggestion of chips with him.

We had around 40 knots of wind and we reached 15.5 knots boat speed! Another boat, sailing not too far from us, radioed us and told us to expect 50 knots. I almost got off at that point but Dawson's promise of diamonds persuaded me to stay!! (He ...

... arriving in Santiago, and so excited to see it again. Others anticipating what they will experience when they arrive there for the first time. I have no preconceived notions of what lies ahead, but am very much looking forward to it, and anticipating what special significance it will hold for me. I enjoyed dinner with the "pack" I mentioned yesterday, and we had a great walk around Pontevedra after dinner. It is a very large and bustling city. It was actually too much ...
