What a campaign it has been. Australia's paddlers dropping like dominos from the flu, a heat wave in Hungary, up to 40 ,and the best results Australia has ever achieved.
Warren competed in 5 events and won 4 GOLD and 1 SILVER. Boy were the Canadians upset.
They were the world title holders going into the competition and over all they are still so in all other divisions. They were gracious in defeat and ...
... asked me to get some ice for Warren to help keep his temperature down. A simple task you would think! But no, after asking all the stores could I buy some ice, I ended up at the IDBF office, they sent me to first aid.....no ice.....then after about 10 minutes of conversation which I couldn't understand I was told to go back to one of the stores , find a volunteer and he would help me. Well help me he did, not with a cup of ice but ...
... we have the thermal baths as part of it.. So we came home, changed and went to soak in the pools. The one we choose was supposed to be 38degrees, so 30 mins there and back for dinner.
Warren has tomorrow off so he will stay here and hopefully beat this rotten flu. There are quite a few people with varying degrees of it so they have been told to stay put. It is only the 1000 m races tomorrow so not his race.
The World Champion plus ...
... One of the Canadians recognised me from HK. Whilst we are fierce competitors on the water most paddlers are really friendly and it is a great atmosphere.
Tomorrow it starts, and everything they have worked for is on the line. Unfortunately there are quite a few with the flu including Warren so I have been asking Archangel Raphael to heal them. All you angels out there we could do with some healings please.
light and love to all,
... br> Well two nights has turned into one night. They are going to be full the second night with a big group. So much for my reservation. I guess a big group beats a single traveller.
Not worried about that actually - not a lot here and think I saw all I wanted to see this afternoon. So happy to move tomorrow.
But moving is not that easy - well across the border ...
