Early start as up at 0345. The taxi picked us up from the motel and we caught the flight to Sydney. It took about three hours but with the two hour time change we landed at 8am! ... that when I booked this hotel that it was situated in the "sex district". It seems there's an awful lot going on in and around the hotel, particularly at night. Who thought that Holiday Inn would position one of there properties here. Anyway all is good.
We've notice a few things right off. When people are on the escalator, they stay to the LEFT, contrary to the U.S & Canada where they stand to the right. When people walk on the sidewalks ...

I did get the chance to get a few more Espanol lessons completed and am now half way through getting the 138 basic words into my automatic vocab. Wonder if the natives will understand me. ... the big dig" and a lovely little craft beer pub called Harts.No i haven't started drinking, beer, it did a very nice local cider called Hunters Valley (slightly dry, clear and not fizzy!). The big dig is under the Sydney Harbour hostel, discovered when they started building. So they pu the whole hostel on stilts and you can see all the original settlement buildings foundations from street level.very cool! See photos below. Night ...
... showed up for some treats. It seemed so strange for us to see such colourful birds, that we normally see in cages in North America, flying freely in their environment. Even though we’ve felt totally comfortable in Sydney, seeing these wild birds really brought it home to us that we were a long way from Kamloops.
