... Meg is from Eugene and knows my cousin, Marcia. The route was hilly but not awful. We arrived at about 1pm and had a few beers before heading to the Alberque It almost like a rest day. The weather is much warmer this week and it was very nice to get here in time to rinse out a few things. It is always a race to get a bottom bunk and a sunn y spot on the clothesline. We have ...

... the Spanish people are wonderful and pointed me back in the right direction. From then on, it was basically trudge trudge trudge. It was very beautiful and warm. Very tired. The walk was only 23K, about 14 miles but it was all downhill and on the road I got the room at a nice hotel in Ourense. I couldn't get undressed fast enough. Sat on the bed more. While I was out, I saw Bob, Elizabeth and Jose-Maria. They are all Camino veterans who are on ...

... cafe-bars on the Camino. The owner makes a shell for each Peregrino and hangs it around. He also played country western greatest hits when he found out that I am from Texas. After a pretty steep descent, I ate lunch at the beautiful village of Vilar de Barrio. All of the houses had flowers. I ate lunch in restaurant by the square and started off on the very flat part of the day. It was pretty hot. As I sat by a fountain, ...

... I have decided that I will also take a 23K today rather than 32K. There is a huge mountain to scale. If I maintain my 22K or schedule after that, I will reach Santiago next Thursday. That will give me an overnight there and back to Madrid. Or perhaps, I will get my compostela in Santiago and go one night to Vigo to see the ocean. It is hard to be this close to the ocean and not see it. But that is a week away and things change every ...
