      ... for lunch - it turns out that is what she meant! We had a lovely lunch and after that Nanny and Grandpa took a happy Marni back to the chalet and to the piscine for a swim.

      ... open but it was enough for us on our first day. It was actually quite icy so not the nicest snow in the world but once the sun had been on it for awhile it softened up a bit. We did a few runs then stopped for a quick lunch at the top. It was such a nice day and from the top we got a panorama view of the Swiss alps. Stunning!       Oops, no notes again! Refuge Elena quite new and modern. Large dorms but partitioned into bunks of 4. Located on a high ridge overlooking the valley, where we had a long break and arvo tea. Met some interesting groups of Italians, see the funny hats. It seems that all of Italy has these 2 weeks off, so the trails and refuges are full. Dinner in a lovely dining room, food pasta as usual. ...
