Big day. Started off with a Bob led "short walking tour" (of 4 hours) which basically took us in a big loop around St Petersburg - seeing everything from monuments to street cleaners, to older style "trading places" where the locals who aren't able to afford the higher shopping centre prices did their shopping, to an exhibition of "buddy bears" (a UN exhibition raising money for children through UNICEF) featuring brightly painted bears representing each country. Beautiful Russian Orthodox cathedral. Third largest domed cathedral in the world. The exterior is striking because of the multi-colored marble used in the construction. Miraculously, the building was not seriously damaged during city siege in WWII.
