... numerous cathedrals in Mexico City. A lot of the buildings were sunken and on an angle. The entire city was built on a dry lake that had been emptied along time ago, some of the cathedrals were on a lean. As time goes on they sink further into the ground due to the heavy materials used for construction such as marble and stone. We left really amazed by this country that Gab was discovering for the first time. I was extremely impressed how Mexico City has evolved since my first visit in 2002. Back then I really couldn't do anything spontaneously with my friend Celine, we always had to plan ahead, call a cab and the family we were staying with, would not let us walk for security reasons. Periodically we’d pass through dusty little towns. Speed bumps controlled traffic flow. Men selling bags of fried something-or-other hawked their wares from the middle of the street. Sometimes there were shrines to the Virgin Mary on the outskirts of town.
